A unique tradition of the NSAL-DC Chapter is its annual Viennese Ball held at the Cosmos Club in one of Washington DC’s most beautiful ballrooms. The evening begins with a reception and candlelit dinner followed by the Grand March to commence waltzing into the night to live orchestral music.

NSAL competition winners perform for the crowd during a respite from the dancing and the Austrian Ambassador or his representative mingles with the crowd as our invited guest.

2025 Awards for Excellence in the Arts (AEA) Ceremony

The Washington, DC Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters held its 2025 Awards for Excellence in the Arts (AEA) ceremony May 29, 2025, at the National Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC. Twenty six high school juniors from schools in the Washington Metropolitan Area were honored for excellence in NSAL’s six arts categories.

NSAL-DC Membership Activities July 2024 thru June 2025

While NSAL DC’s membership year runs from July to June, membership activities are typically scheduled between September and June. Business meetings are held in conjunction several times a year.

Our area affords a limitless offering of opportunities for interesting and informative programs with a focus on arts, culture and history.

Ava Liberace Presentation & Reception

Members and guests of NSAL-DC met on August 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Colonnade Condominiums Party Room in NW Washington, DC. We came to hear this year’s Winston Art Scholarship DC Chapter winner and first place winner at the National Winston Art Competition in Illinois.
