Christopher O’Riley provided quality one-on-one instruction to five talented pianists: Jennifer Wang, Mary-Victoria Voutsas, Samuel Barham, Nicholas Biniaz-Harris, and Shelby Sender.

This Benefit event was the afternoon program of the Musical Marathon Day, the Musical Theatre Competition being a free event open to members and friends in the morning. Following an elegant buffet lunch for guests, renowned pianist and host of National Public Radio's From the Top, Christopher O'Riley provided helpful critique to five young pianists. Dessert following the master class, allowed the students and guests to chat with Mr. O'Riley, who sold and signed copies of his CDs, a percentage of the proceeds was donated to the Awards Fund.

The students taking part were: Samuel Barham and Shelby Sender from University of Maryland, Nicholas Biniaz-Harris and Jennifer Wang from the Levine School of Music, and Mary-Victoria Voutsas from American University. Nicholas Biniaz-Harris, the following weekend received Honorable Mention in the 2012 National Symphony Orchestra Young Soloists' Competition. Mary-Victoria Voutsas subsequently agreed to be an accompanist at NSAL-DC's Award for Excellence at the Terrace Theater in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on April 29, 2012.
